There is a choice between new waterless urinals and retrofitting a waterless system to existing urinals.

• For sites that already have standard urinals, conversion typically costs £60 to £100 per urinal, including labour charges.  The necessary components and instructions can be supplied for fitting by in-house personnel or an appropriate local firm. Gentworks’ engineers can carry out fitting and subsequent servicing, if preferred.

New waterless urinal bowls vary from £124 to £450, excluding the cost of fitting.

The bowls fall into 3 main categories:

• Purpose-Built Waterless Urinals
• Standard Urinals Bundled with a Waterless Retrofit System:
• Modified (no spreader hole) Standard Urinals Bundled with a Waterless Retrofit System

• The total costs for converted standard urinals can exceed those for new waterless urinals. Over a long period, the consumables and maintenance requirements for converted/retrofitted waterless urinals may be greater than for some purpose-built waterless urinal bowls. However, converting existing urinals is usually more cost-efficient, and less wasteful, than installing new urinals.

1. Retrofit Microbiological Waterless Urinal System          

• If new bowls required, available with a choice of urinal bowls from under £100
• Lowest cost and least wasteful waterless urinal solution if existing urinals are in satisfactory condition
• Typical implementation cost for existing urinals of £60 to £90 per urinal and running cost of £94 to £150 annually, depending on the required service level
• Simple and proven system with no moving parts or barrier fluid
• Retrofit components supplied with instructions, or can be fitted and serviced by Gentworks’ specialist engineers

2.  Aridian Waterless Urinal Bowl with Falcon or GW6 cartridge          

• The Aridian is by far the most populous waterless urinal bowl in the UK
• initial cost of around £235, then between £42 to £204 annually, depending on number of users and the cartridge chosen
• low maintenance
• supply of Aridian waterless urinal bowl, which comes with a Falcon Waterfree cartridge, as standard
  • option to purchase the GW6 cartridge for use instead of the Falcon cartridge
  • the Falcon cartridge originally supplied can be exchanged for an extra GW6 valve

3.  GW6 Waterless Urinals      

• choice of GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and stainless steel urinal troughs as well as GRP urinal bowls
• low maintenance
• low consumables costs
